Amanda got back from the ISTE 2023 EdTech conference full of energy, inspiration and hope for the future of the industry. “It was one of those times where people are telling you what you already know, but they’re saying in such a way that it all just makes sense,” she says.
She discusses with Tyler everything she learned at the conference and some of her biggest takeaways about how technology will shape education and what consultants can do to help educators embrace this new wave of change.
She learned about the importance of creating guiding standards for all AI use within schools to ensure it’s appropriate for school-aged users and students and teachers alike know how to fact-check the information provided. Conference speakers repeatedly noted the importance of this step because it will grow with organizations as AI continues to advance and integrate itself in schools.
Amanda also learned that when selling EdTech solutions, it’s important to know your audience. She discussed what she learned about empathizing with teachers’ pain, taking a problem-solution approach over a values-benefits approach and understanding the buying dynamics within an organization or school district. Sometimes it’s not just about finding the decision maker, it’s also about considering their budget and how easy it is to access funds.
There are two more takeaways that she discusses in this episode, as well as her reaction to other insights gained from the conference. Hit play on the podcast to hear her take!
