Google has a new patent.
I know I know, talking about a patent isn't exactly the thing that gets you excited for the day. But that's ok because I asked Leah Champagne to read it and give us the highlights.
The patent is on what is called "information gain", which will apply machine learning models to the way that Google returns search results. The biggest takeaway is that Google's new algorithm will work to determine the value of the content it returns, instead of just its topical alignment with your search. Plus, it will learn based on your previous searches around that topic.
